Lauren and Joey…darling couple. Darling wedding. These two charming people met at work at Abington Hospital, where Joey is a doctor and Lauren is a nurse. Joey finally worked up the nerve to ask Lauren out after they worked on a case together. Turns out? They worked together outside of work even better than they worked together at work. Traci: What is the one thing you love the most about your beloved? Lauren: He is thoughtful and loving. He takes such good care of me when I need his help. Joey: The fact that she can put up with me and all of my craziness, day in and day out. She never questions it and she has a unique talent...
Allison is a classic beauty and she wanted very classic old world elegance in her bridal session. We chose the OHenry Hotel in Greensboro for it’s beautiful, dark wood lobby and the light was just amazing. We chose several locations throughout the hotel and Allison walked right up to the edge of her comfort level and stopped over that line. Her bravery allowed me to play a little and add a modern twist to some of her images. It was a wonderful collaboration. Congrats to Allison and Matt who married last night at the OHenry!
Things don’t always go as planned. Even at a wedding. Even when you have planned every single last detail. But don’t freak out when it happens! It’s not a tragedy! The change can surprise you. It can actually be for the very beautiful. Lauren and Will’s Grandover Resort wedding was the perfect example of a plan going awry and embracing the change. Their wedding was supposed to be outside. But, it rained. A lot. So, everything was quickly shifted into the Griffin Room. Lauren and Will accepted this change with the exact same excitement as if the weather had been perfect and their wedding had gone off exactly as planned. Because they were just thrilled to be getting married –...
I adore music almost as much as I do photography (I’m a closet singer but no one knows that…) There is an incredible bravery standing in front of a crowd and being the center of attention that both terrifies and fascinates me. This is one of the first things that made me love Nick and Jess and it’s why their wedding struck a deep chord in me. More about that in just a moment. Traci: What is unique about you as a couple? Nick: We’ve been together for over 7 years. Traci: When did you know he was the one? Was there something he did or said that made you catch your breath and just know? Jessica: There wasn’t...
Traci: What is one of the best things about your beloved? Erynn: When I first met Brad, there was a chemistry I couldn’t ignore. He was the first guy that I had actually ever just sat down and talked and talked to and we never seemed to run out of things to say to one another. What are the odds that when you stop by the salon to grab some hair product you meet your future wife? Turns out that they were darn good for Brad…especially when you run into the very same girl at a bar that night. Brad and Erynn hit it off right from the start and within a few weeks, they were spending all of their...
Engagement sessions are the very best when we can shoot somewhere that is meaningful to the couple. Dawn and Dan met in the Navy so after much discussion, we settled on the USS North Caolina Battleship as the location for the shoot. With a wonderfully adventurous bride, a battleship as a backdrop, and a man in uniform, it was an absolutely awesome engagement session for us all! Dawn and I carpooled from Asheville, NC and met Dan in Wilmington, NC. We had permission to stay on the ship long after it was closed to visitors and we spent lots of time both below decks and above. Perfect skies and a playful couple? I know their upcoming wedding will be incredible!
Erynn and Brad met me at the beautiful Childress Vineyards for their engagement session a few months ago. We played in the wine cellar, meandered through the grape vines and even spent some time hanging out with their beautiful daughter. Today is their big wedding today and we’ll be back at the vineyards. The weather couldn’t be more perfect and I can’t wait to share the images from such a kind and beautiful couple. Congrats to the happy couple!
Traci: What is the absolute best thing about Scott? What would he say about you? Kristen: I think his best qualities are his talent and his dedication to the things he cares about. He has told me before that my best qualities are my sense of humor and my compassion. Kristen and Scott found my website after googling North Carolina fine art wedding photographers. Um, thank you, google! Without it, I would not have had the chance to meet this uber cool, relaxed and sweet couple. Kristen is angelically beautiful and Scott is romantic and handsome. Kristen and Scott LOVE to travel so they chose a special destination for their wedding at Camp Pinnacle, near Hanging Rock. Kristen and Scott...
When McCotta suggested we shoot her sunrise bridal session at Pisgah National Forest near Asheville, NC, I must admit, I got a little weak in the knees. I knew the light would be magical but what I didn’t realize was how much she would be willing to do for me and for the shots. We hiked into spectacular locations and shocked hikers along the way as she marched past them in her full wedding gown regalia. It was a site to behold. When we got to the last waterfall of the morning, I wasn’t sure how we were going to get her into the cave behind the falls, but she just soldiered on and the results were astounding. McCotta, thank...
I met Mary and her daughter while shooting a feature for Muscle and Fitness Magazine. If you think that wasn’t an intimidating shoot, you’re wrong! But as it turned out, I loved both of these physically AND emotionally strong women. About a year later, Mary got engaged to another fellow body builder, Zeke, and I was thrilled when she called me to shoot her wedding. Mark and Zeke dated for about 3 ½ years and are totally smitten with each other. Zeke has embraced Mary’s children as they have embraced him. Their wedding was more than a union of two people. It was the beginning of a family. Traci: What do you love most about your beloved? Mary: Zeke has...
+To me, memorable art is art that makes you stop dead in your tracks. Art that sticks with you long after you have walked away. Every time I pull my camera out of that bag, I strive for that kind of art. I love creating images that are gorgeous, but challenging. Images that are playful, yet refined. And most importantly, images that are beautifully crafted. 2014 granted me so many opportunities to create the art that I love while also awarding me with a year of firsts: my first Indian wedding and my first international wedding (in a Scottish castle, no less!). I won Fearless Awards and received the honor of inclusion among the top 50 wedding photographers in the...
I met Romilly when I was shooting her sister, Tasmin’s, September wedding in Asheville. I instantly bonded with both of these beautiful and vivacious women. And when Romilly asked me if I would be interested in photographing her October wedding in…wait for it…Scotland, how could I say no? Photographing the weddings of these two sweet English sisters within months of each other and on two separate continents was a joy. Shooting my first international destination wedding was a dream. My sister, Jennifer, accompanied me on this trip to both to ensure that we didn’t miss a moment of action and also as a little birthday present for herself! We even took a few extra days in to explore the beautiful city...
