Ahhhhh, Jennifer and Mason.

Where to start.

Jennifer is my “beat the windmill bride” bride.  She wore running shoes underneath her wedding gown and was willing to do anything, and I do mean anything, for her bridal portrait.  Pilot Mountain Wedding Beauty. That’s what she was. And her resulting images were legendary.

Okay, Jennifer and Mason are both gorgeous. So, they have that going for them. Then, they are also two of the most fun, laid back people you’ll ever meet. To top it off, they got married in a baseball stadium. Does that sound cool? You bet it does.

BB&T Ballpark, home of the Winston-Salem Dash minor league baseball team, provided an epic space to shoot Jennifer and Mason’s super fun wedding.

How fun was their wedding? Well, the friend who married them also serenaded them during the reception to “Let’s Get it On” in the most soulful performance I have ever seen at a wedding. Jennifer and Mason’s sweet dogs joined the ceremony. The toasts were so funny that they made me cry (a testament to the kind of hilarious people Jennifer and Mason themselves are). Televisions sparkled with sporting events, enjoyed throughout the entire wedding. Mason wrote a song for Jennifer and performed it for her (with his guitar) during the reception. The entire wedding party wore American flag socks, including Jennifer.

This wedding was just genuine, down-home fun. Which was perfect, because Jennifer and Mason are genuine, down-home fun themselves.

Jennifer: Your pictures really tell a story. I would call it art! You capture the audience with great, vivid photographs of a moment in time. You make me feel like I was right there in the picture with you as you took it. Your pictures are beautiful. Also – you love to shoot fun and unique events. I know that the Dash stadium are going to be beautiful backdrops for your art! You are going to take more exquisite pictures to show all your future brides at a brand new, non-traditional venue!

Jennifer and Mason truly, truly appreciate fine art photography. They also understand that my art represents story telling wedding photography. This makes them amazing clients to work with on top of all of their other amazingness.

Let’s get real for a second.

When Mason serenaded Jennifer with his song, she balled like a baby. And to be honest, I cried a little too. Anytime barriers fall down like that, it totally affects me. It gets so real. And that’s why I love what I do so much. It allows me to produce real, raw images of emotions of one of the most pivotal moments of your life. When you show your real self to a wider audience, it is an incredible honor to see and it is my responsibility to capture the moment. It’s not a responsibility I take lightly. And not all of my clients allow that curtain to completely fall. When it does and I am able to capture that moment, it produces a high better than any drug.
