I met Mary and her daughter while shooting a feature for Muscle and Fitness Magazine. If you think that wasn’t an intimidating shoot, you’re wrong! But as it turned out, I loved both of these physically AND emotionally strong women. About a year later, Mary got engaged to another fellow body builder, Zeke, and I was thrilled when she called me to shoot her wedding. Mark and Zeke dated for about 3 ½ years and are totally smitten with each other. Zeke has embraced Mary’s children as they have embraced him. Their wedding was more than a union of two people. It was the beginning of a family. Traci: What do you love most about your beloved? Mary: Zeke has...
+To me, memorable art is art that makes you stop dead in your tracks. Art that sticks with you long after you have walked away. Every time I pull my camera out of that bag, I strive for that kind of art. I love creating images that are gorgeous, but challenging. Images that are playful, yet refined. And most importantly, images that are beautifully crafted. 2014 granted me so many opportunities to create the art that I love while also awarding me with a year of firsts: my first Indian wedding and my first international wedding (in a Scottish castle, no less!). I won Fearless Awards and received the honor of inclusion among the top 50 wedding photographers in the...
When Brittany came home from a trip to Spain, she was welcomed with a dinner at Jake’s on Main in Danville, VA…that would unknowingly include her future husband. Brittany’s dad met Bill through their shared love of mountain biking and decided that Brittany and Bill would make a fabulous couple so they invited him on over to Brittany’s welcome home dinner. Brittany and Bill’s wedding was gorgeous with so many different elements and textures to the day. It all started at the family home that Brittany grew up in. Brittany boldly decided to get ready on her front porch, braving some bitterly cold temperatures. The outdoor dressing room was genius…providing beautiful organic light and a landscape of vibrant fall colors....
I met Romilly when I was shooting her sister, Tasmin’s, September wedding in Asheville. I instantly bonded with both of these beautiful and vivacious women. And when Romilly asked me if I would be interested in photographing her October wedding in…wait for it…Scotland, how could I say no? Photographing the weddings of these two sweet English sisters within months of each other and on two separate continents was a joy. Shooting my first international destination wedding was a dream. My sister, Jennifer, accompanied me on this trip to both to ensure that we didn’t miss a moment of action and also as a little birthday present for herself! We even took a few extra days in to explore the beautiful city...
Traci: What are your three favorite things to do together? Justin: Road trips/exploring new places, hiking, camping, lounging around the house together. Traci: What makes you unique as a couple? Margaret: We have a screen print that says, “Oh Darling, let’s be adventurers.” I’m not sure if it’s a style or something that we actually live up to – but it’s more of an ambitious goal. There are some weddings that I would shoot all over again, if for nothing more than the sheer pleasure of reshooting them. Justin and Margaret’s wedding is absolutely on that list. Justin and Margaret dated for over thirteen years before they got engaged at Wonder Lake in Denali National Park (aka:...
Traci: “What is the absolute best thing about your Beloved? What would they say about you?” Dewie: “She has a heart of gold and is always happy, never gets angry and is so very patient and loving with everyone she meets. She’s never shy and can hold a conversation about anything with anyone! She’ll give all that she is to everyone she meets. She’s pretty much perfect. She would probably say mostly the same thing I’m sure.” When I first met Elizabeth and Dewie, their mutual adoration echoed Dewie’s online questionnaire. Their tone is never anything but positive and supportive every time they talk about each other. It’s easy to see why they adore each other too…their laid-back, easy going...
I absolutely ADORE Sherelle and Anthony. While chatting at our initial consult, I found out that Sherelle was a pediatric ophthalmologist. It just so happened that my son was in the market for a new eye doctor and since we connected so well, I asked her if she would consider seeing him as a patient. She agreed and ever since, I have been making the drive to Charlotte for Thatcher to see his beloved “Miss Relle”. She is totally worth it. She is genuinely nurturing and loving with him which is what is also so evident in her relationship with Anthony and why I was so thrilled to document their love story. Traci: Tell me the one thing that you...
Victoria has quickly become one of my fearless poster brides. She’s the one on the windmill. When she pointed out the spot that she used to climb as a child during her bridal session, I asked her if she would climb it in her bridal gown. Without hesitation, she did so. Her windmill portrait portrayed her grace, beauty and bravery against a magical sky and a perfect wind. It instantly became one of my favorite bridal portraits and has won a Fearless Award. I was pretty darn excited about her wedding. It did not disappoint. It was at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, one of my favorite places to photograph weddings. It’s colorful, it’s exuberant and they embrace photographers coming...
The Proximity Hotel was the perfect location for Porsha and Eric’s lavish event. The evening sparkled and blinged and was a riot of both incredible live music and DJing for all to dance the evening away! Congrats to the happy couple!
When Tamsin and I first spoke, I was on a trip home from Georgia. I instantly bonded with this darling girl when I heard her sweet disposition and her familiar English accent. I lived in England years ago and we chatted about places we both knew among many other things. Before I knew it, we had easily passed an hour and a half of my long drive home. Tamsin met Tyler while he was on assignment in the UK in February 2013. It didn’t take long before the devilishly good looking Tyler was madly in love with the beautiful and creative Tamsin. After a quick but strong courtship, Tamsin found herself throwing a farewell bash and packing her bags for...
Jeff seriously lucked out when he interviewed for a job at a market research firm in Durham. Not only did he score a job; he also met his future wife, Melia. Jeff and Melia’s relationship started as a working one. As their friendship grew, they found each other hanging out and talking a little more…and a little more. Jeff admits to offering Melia rides to company softball games just to spend more time with her. They had so much fun when they were together that before long, Jeff was orchestrating an elaborate plan to propose to Melia at the softball field where they had spent so much time together. Jeff and Melia love Asheville, NC’s vintage feel with a modern...
