I have held off on posting these for a while now and a cold, snowy day seems perfect to look back at this steamy, romantic engagement session! Kellie and Jarett met and fell in love on a baseball field and now that Jarett is playing in the minor leagues, their story continues to revolve around America’s pastime. For their engagement session, we were able to get permission to shoot inside of beautiful War Memorial Stadium in Greensboro, NC. Every part of the stadium is gorgeous – especially the parts that are slightly decayed but all the more beautiful for it. As you know, I believe that braver is beautiful and can create powerful imagery. It’s not just something I ask...
It’s always such a high to have your work chosen to be showcased on a beautiful blog so I was ecstatic to find out that Charles and Crystal’s modern, stylish engagement session was chosen to be featured on Munaluchi Bridal! Head over and check it out. You’ll be seeing more of Crystal and Charles – we’ve still got the upcoming bridal session and their wedding so stay tuned! Here are a few of my personal favorites from their e-session at Charlotte’sRenaissance Hotel.
Here’s a quick sneak peek of Tara and Sam’s engagement session from a few weeks ago n downtown Durham, NC. We started at the American Tobacco Historic District which I hadn’t visited before but it’s now on my list of must dos! Then we wandered around town for a wile stopping in some abandoned lots, and an underpass. Then we stopped by the Durham Bull’s Stadium before we headed to my new favorite Durham institution, LocoPops. Designer mango chili popsicles? Yes, please! And of course we had to chase down a fewof Durham’s food trucks before we found Porchetta. We ended the evening by heading over to Duke University Hospital where Tara and Sam are finishing up their internships before heading to their fellowships in...
Marissa and Brett are infectiously playful, silly, and wild about one another and I cannot wait for their wedding this November. While we were rambling through Greensboro finding fun places to shoot, Marissa suggested we head to UNC Greensboro’s infamous Climbing Tree. After we chased off several students, we spent a few romantic moments in the boughs of this beautiful old magnolia. On a personal note, I didn’t go to UNCG but my husband Adam did and I was shocked to learn that, for years, students have been scaling this tree to carve the initials of their loved ones in it’s heights. Adam still hasn’t been able to pinpoint where my initials are. Hmmmm…. We ended the session at Marissa and Brett’s favorite restaurant, Bin...
What’s that you say? You want to do part of your engagement shoot at a bowling alley? No problem! Well…it was actually quite tricky (and just a little bit scary) but so worth the effort. How was it tricky? Well, bowling alleys are dark and for some unknown reason, avid bowlers are definitely not keen on us using flash photography in their sacred space. Solution? Go in really early on a Sunday morning and light the place up. Many thanks to Triad Lanes for letting us take over for a bit. Why was it scary? I have a tendency to lay down on floors to get more dynamic shots but having bowling balls whizzing toward your head as you look through your...
I have been absolutely dying to post these! Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Snow. Many thank to Becca at Rebecca Rose Events for her design and styling on the shoot!
Photography, in it’s every form, makes me happy. Photographing beauty, laughter, silliness, and genuine adoration makes me giddy. Meet childhood sweethearts, Jaimie and Nate who will be married in April 2013. A big congratulations to Jaimie and Nate! Be sure to check back for their images from their spectacular wedding at Our Lady of Grace and Starmount Country Club next spring.
It’s July and we are knee-deep in wedding season so I have become ridiculously remiss in posting. No more! Instead of letting a huge backlog build up, I give you just the bare facts and beautiful couples. Enjoy! First up, Caitlin and Andrew and their Blowing Rock E-Session. Be sure to give them some love below! Hilarious. Playful. Sexy. Sweet. Caitlin and Andrew will be married in Charlotte, NC on August 25th. Keep an eye out for more yum!
As a mom, the thought of leaving your little one wailing at the door as you drive off for a shoot does lay heavy on your heart. (Yep, that did happen-more than once.) Luckily, having a stellar husband and an awesome big brother does help to salve those mommy-wounds. But there is certainly an allure to hopping on a plane with gear in tow and discovering a wealth of new photographic wonders. Katherine and Lynn are getting married in Greensboro later this summer but for their E-Session they asked if I could come to Chicago. Really?!? Ok, twist my arm. I’ve never been to Chicago before and I now understand people’s devotion to it. Personally, the plethora of public art (everywehere!) and the genuine kindness...
I have a deep love of the {Appalachian Mountains} – the romanticism of the peaks repeating and repeating until they fade in the distance, the way the mist clings to them like an embrace. As a child, my parents used to throw us in the car and take off for long drives down the {Blue Ridge Parkway} stopping at overlook after overlook and hiking through the laurel. This place touches a chord deep within me that sing “home” and I have been trying to {capture it} for years. Brad and Melissa are lucky enough to live in this beautiful landscape and we couldn’t have picked a more stunning locale for their E-Session. Brad and his kids have always hiked the {Jump Off Rock} area and it has become...
