+To me, memorable art is art that makes you stop dead in your tracks. Art that sticks with you long after you have walked away. Every time I pull my camera out of that bag, I strive for that kind of art. I love creating images that are gorgeous, but challenging. Images that are playful, yet refined. And most importantly, images that are beautifully crafted. 2014 granted me so many opportunities to create the art that I love while also awarding me with a year of firsts: my first Indian wedding and my first international wedding (in a Scottish castle, no less!). I won Fearless Awards and received the honor of inclusion among the top 50 wedding photographers in the...
Photography, in it’s every form, makes me happy. Photographing beauty, laughter, silliness, and genuine adoration makes me giddy. Meet childhood sweethearts, Jaimie and Nate who will be married in April 2013. A big congratulations to Jaimie and Nate! Be sure to check back for their images from their spectacular wedding at Our Lady of Grace and Starmount Country Club next spring.
It’s July and we are knee-deep in wedding season so I have become ridiculously remiss in posting. No more! Instead of letting a huge backlog build up, I give you just the bare facts and beautiful couples. Enjoy! First up, Caitlin and Andrew and their Blowing Rock E-Session. Be sure to give them some love below! Hilarious. Playful. Sexy. Sweet. Caitlin and Andrew will be married in Charlotte, NC on August 25th. Keep an eye out for more yum!
As a mom, the thought of leaving your little one wailing at the door as you drive off for a shoot does lay heavy on your heart. (Yep, that did happen-more than once.) Luckily, having a stellar husband and an awesome big brother does help to salve those mommy-wounds. But there is certainly an allure to hopping on a plane with gear in tow and discovering a wealth of new photographic wonders. Katherine and Lynn are getting married in Greensboro later this summer but for their E-Session they asked if I could come to Chicago. Really?!? Ok, twist my arm. I’ve never been to Chicago before and I now understand people’s devotion to it. Personally, the plethora of public art (everywehere!) and the genuine kindness...
I had the rare pleasure of joining Treyci and Brandon for an Afterglow Session while they were honeymooning in Asheville, NC. Their wedding took place the week before in Greenville, SC and when Treyci called to ask me to come join them for the day, I was absolutely thrilled. Seriously, I adore this couple-take a look at their wedding blog post to see why. Brandon proposed to Treyci at the Biltmore Estate so it was the perfect place to spend the day. Marissa and I arrived with the hopes of brilliant skies but what we got were brooding clouds and thunderstorms. When the skies opened up, we hid out in the Biltmore Conservatory-a place of incredible beauty that should not be missed if you are near the NC Blue...
I have a deep love of the {Appalachian Mountains} – the romanticism of the peaks repeating and repeating until they fade in the distance, the way the mist clings to them like an embrace. As a child, my parents used to throw us in the car and take off for long drives down the {Blue Ridge Parkway} stopping at overlook after overlook and hiking through the laurel. This place touches a chord deep within me that sing “home” and I have been trying to {capture it} for years. Brad and Melissa are lucky enough to live in this beautiful landscape and we couldn’t have picked a more stunning locale for their E-Session. Brad and his kids have always hiked the {Jump Off Rock} area and it has become...
Occasionally, the photo gods smile on me a little more than usual – an unexpected thing for sure at 5:30 in the morning on a sweltering Myrtle Beach morning… Meet Savannah, a softball playing beauty who could give any supermodel a run for their money. Rarely have I photographed someone who has such ease and poise in front of the camera. No matter what I asked her to do, she accomplished it as though it was the most natural thing in the world. Now, I am as camera shy as they come – most photographers are (a dirty little secret we don’t want people to know!) And in today’s camera saturated world, most people have an automatic and practiced smile...
