Portrait Session

The Folk Art Center is home to the Southern Highland Craft Guild and it's windows are filled with beautiful hand blown glass objects. When we stopped to photograph on the trails around the center. I couldn't get over the way that glass changed the way the outside world looked. Kristen and Mark just hung out outside the window, playing, laughing and being their general adorable selves while I shot through the window and all that glass to create a dreamy, reflection filled world around them. The 85mm shot at 1.2 allowed me to altogether remove the objects in the foreground and just let their dreamy light surround the couple. I have several images in a riot of color but this image, with Kristen smiling while being lifted up by Mark felt most right in black and white. The color took away from their expressions and I wanted it to be all about them.

After we shot at The Folk Art Center, we headed over to Pisgah National Forest to shoot in the waterfalls, trails, and eventually neck deep in the rivers and we had an incredible time!
