Confession. I am ridiculously competitive. Not so much with other people but definitely with myself. I set impossible goals (never shoot the same image twice), am impossibly hard on myself, and strive to one up myself with every shoot. So this morning, when I won another Fearless Award<\/a>, I launched straight over the moon. Happy Valentines Day to me!!!!<\/p>\n

Fearless Photographers<\/em><\/a>\u00a0is a unique photography directory of more than 3000 of the world’s most amazing wedding photographers serving couples who truly love photography. It is also my favorite competition that I take part in. I love how these photographers from every corner of the earth strive, with every shoot, to create, stun, and push boundaries with their art form. And each time I win an award with these giants, I get weak in the knees!<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The awards competition happens 4-5\u00a0 times a year and with every shoot, I always have Fearless Awards in the back of my head. First, I think about all the beautiful imagery that I learn from with every member of the group. Second, am I shooting with “how can I win with this composition?”. There is an incredible push between all of us to keep improving and I know in my heart, this group consistently makes me better.<\/p>\n

Photography, especially wedding photography, can be so much more than simple documents of your wedding day. It can, and should, be emotional, daring, hilarious, and, quite especially, it should be art.<\/p>\n
