They hit it off from that first moment and have been inseparable ever since.

Traci: What is unique about you as a couple?

Sherelle: We are truly yin and yang. I’m more heart and he’s more the brain. Although we’re both loving and intelligent, I’m more given to emotion and he’s more given to logic. We provide good balance for one another.

Sherelle and Anthony’s wedding in uptown Charlotte was fun, energetic and centered on family.

During the reception, I pulled them aside and asked them if they would be willing to take a walk and with zero hesitation, we were off. Our walk ended up at the very cool Coca-Cola building just down the street from the reception and resulted in one of my favorite images. I love the contrast of colors, the leading lines and the angular quality of the building. It’s just cool – like Sherelle and Anthony.

I also love the shot of Sherelle with her bridesmaids…I think that the best formal shots portray the power of connection. With everyone interlacing arms and connecting in so many ways physically, it completely embodies connection and intimacy between these beautiful and confident African-American women. I strive for this in all formal sessions and I love it when we capture it with grace and ease.

Traci: What is the most important thing to you about your wedding photography?

Sherelle: That it is creative, artistic, and represents the event in its entirety and from angles we might not see or be aware of at that time.

I shot the image of Anthony and Sherelle sharing their first kiss as husband and wife through candles from the back of the room. The impact of shooting from this angle yields a sense of tenderness, as if they are the only people in existence, illuminated by a romantic and warm light.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for Sherelle: both her brain and her heart. Getting to know Anthony and shooting their wedding was a huge honor. I was so happy to be a part of every step of it. Congrats!

I absolutely ADORE Sherelle and Anthony.
