As a mom, the thought of leaving your little one wailing at the door as you drive off for a shoot does lay heavy on your heart. (Yep, that did happen-more than once.) Luckily, having a stellar husband and an awesome big brother does help to salve those mommy-wounds. But there is certainly an allure to hopping on a plane with gear in tow and discovering a wealth of new photographic wonders.<\/p>\n
Katherine and Lynn are getting married in\u00a0Greensboro<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0later this summer but for their E-Session they asked if I could come to\u00a0Chicago<\/span><\/strong><\/a>. Really?!? Ok, twist my arm. I\u2019ve never been to Chicago before and I now understand people\u2019s devotion to it. Personally, the plethora of\u00a0public art<\/span><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(everywehere!) and the genuine kindness of the people sucked me in. I\u2019m definitely heading back! We shot all day ambling around parts of the city I probably never would have seen as a tourist and had an absolute blast. \u00a0Loving every second of this trip made coming home to my boys all the sweeter.<\/p>\n After we hit up\u00a0Millennium Park\u2019s<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0Cloud Gate<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0sculpture, we headed over to the\u00a0Art Institute of Chicago<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0to recreate Katherine and Lynn\u2019s first date. This stunning museum is a must the next time you\u2019re near by.\u00a0Katherine\u2019s apartment, a gem from the 1920’s, is directly across the street from\u00a0Lincoln Park Zoo<\/span><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0which was one of the big highlights of the day for me. The zoo is completely free and a bastion of nature in the middle of this huge and thriving city.\u00a0We dropped into lots of their favorite haunts \u2013\u00a0La Cr\u00eaperie<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0was my favorite.\u00a0We ended our shoot at\u00a0Lake Michigan<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.
