About Me

Like so many artists, my love of photography began early. My 7th grade science teacher taught science through photography. He incorporated everything from light to chemistry to optics into a lesson plan paired with photography and I got hooked. After high school, my studies took me to Oxford University where I studied under acclaimed documentary photographer Julia Parry. I received my BFA from Arizona State University in 1996 and have been shooting and exhibiting both nationally and internationally ever since. When I began working with wedding and portrait clients, I realized I needed to continue to shoot in a Fine Art style, capturing more than just the person or the standard moments at a particular event. To be fulfilled as an artist, I had to bring my own aesthetic, my own artistic voice into play. I find those special details, beautiful light, or lovely moments and capture them in a way that evokes emotion from the audience. Art is more than just framing an image within a particular set of rules, rather it is the artist's capability to tell a story in a single frame and to make the audience stop, catch their breath, pay attention, and remember what they saw long after they have walked away from the piece. On every shoot, I look for those special moments that tell your story. It took you months of preparation, sweat, and tears for all the details that bring together your wedding day. Its my job to make sure that whenever anyone looks at your photographs, they see the full story in all its glory. I am thrilled that you took the time to visit my site.
